Read a market
What each part of a market's page in the app tells you.
The head
- Status: Trading, End date passed, Listed, Settled or Settled at midpoints, with the end date or the first trade's time.
- Implied open: the price the market expects, from its UP midpoints. Once settled, the opening price takes its place.
- The line under the price traces the implied open over the time Bell has indexed.
The bell
The bell is the spread of opening prices the market expects, fitted to its UP prices, drawn over the ladder. Its dotted tick is the implied open. Your price is the red line: drag it, or use the arrow keys on the bell. Once the market settles, the bell is struck at the opening price.
The ladder
| Column | Shows |
|---|---|
| Band | The band's low and high edge. |
| Split now | UP's share of the band at its current midpoint, printed solid from the left. |
| UP bid, UP ask | The best prices in the band's UP book. |
| DOWN bid, DOWN ask | The best prices in the band's DOWN book. |
| You hold | Your UP and DOWN in the band. |
After settlement the ladder shows what each UP and DOWN pays instead.
