Getting started

Wallets and sessions

How Bell connects to your wallet, what you sign and what each approval does.

Wallets

Bell connects to browser wallets that support the Wallet Standard and can sign both messages and transactions on Solana, such as Phantom, Solflare and Backpack. Choose Connect wallet in the bar and pick yours from the list.

Signing in

After the connection, your wallet shows a message from Bell with the site's address, your wallet address, a one-time code and an expiry time. Signing it starts a session in this browser. The message says that it does not authorize a transaction, and it cannot move funds.

A session lasts an hour. When it ends, your wallet asks for a new signature the next time you act.

Approving transactions

Every action is a Solana transaction that your wallet shows you before you approve it.

  1. Bell prepares the transaction and runs it in simulation first, so one that cannot go through is stopped with its reason before your wallet sees it.
  2. Your wallet shows it and you approve or decline.
  3. Bell sends exactly what you signed and follows it until Solana finalizes it.

The panel at the foot of the page shows each step and the transaction's signature, which opens on Solana Explorer. A slider order has one transaction per fill, approved one after another.

Your balances

USDC stays in your wallet until a transaction moves it. UP and DOWN are ordinary Solana tokens in whole units, also in your wallet. The first time you hold a band's token, the transaction opens its token account, which takes a little SOL.

Disconnecting

Open the account menu in the bar and choose Disconnect to end the session. Switching accounts inside your wallet ends it as well.
